My Thoughts on Reviewers

The bottom line is that you want EVERYONE to like your story. That is just night feasible. Everyone is not going to like your story. The only thing I have against reviewers is that you should never base yours on one persons opinions. Now I am not speaking from a grumpy authors viewpoint. I received a 4 out of 5 star rating for "Torn". But after I read the review which left me pretty perplexed about her opinion I started contemplating this entire review thing. Romance Junkies is taking a poll and I voted. Less then seven percent of consumers purchase books based on reviews. So why bother right? *shrug* I guess it is just something to do. It gives authors something to aspire to and brag about when they get high points and grumble about when they get something low. I think the biggest crowd who actually concerns themselves with reviews is an author. Readers don't seem phased by them and sells don't look to be faltering because of one bad one for many authors. For instance Willa Okati appears to be very popular. However, I read a review on her yesterday that pretty much bashed her writing style and story telling ability. No one likes negative feedback. IMHO Romance Junkies has the best reviewing system. The lowest score you can get is a 2 and that says that the author didn't mind reading it. Its not a recommended read or anything, but its not total junk either. On the other hand I read some reviews from a gal they call Mrs. or Ms. (can't remember) Giggles. She has some pretty harsh criticisms. I really don't know how she became popular. It seems as if anyone with the inclination to read and JUDGE a book these days can do it. No prior work experience needed, and please NO pictures folks. You're getting your book reviewed by someone who is virtually genderless. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I disagree with harsh critcisms--actually I don't believe that the opinion of one person should be any more important then anyone elses, but hey I'm not in charge here. I do know that I stay away from things that leave a bad taste in my mouth. In the future I won't be reading ANY more reviews from Mrs/Ms. Giggles. I'll leave that hog wash for the birds.

Not in the Mood

I've been charged with writing two Christmas stories for the Holidays coming up, and I'll tell you I'm just not in the mood to write anything so cheerful. What I really want to write is something angsty, dark, and spellbinding. I've had this idea for a necromancer who also happens to be a medium. I think I want to call him Adam or maybe Ryan. I want him to be a preppy type, who is a jock and a chick magnet. Then I want him to attract the dark forces of the supernatural. The contrast between his world and his necromancer powers when they come into full bloom should be interesting. I see that a lot of authors always write necromancers or such characters as already being dark, a loner, or practicing a craft. I want to do something different, but it will have to be put on hold for now. *sigh* I have work to do.

CRITIQUE GROUP

The story I need critiqued is called "All I Want for Christmas" which is going to be featured in "HO HO HO and Mistletoe" series at Cacoethes Publishing. Feel free to check out the site. There is a link provided on the right side of my page for that. I am in the beginning stages right now so I am crammed for time because it is do on Halloween day. I will try to get the rough draft out to my critique group on October 1st. If it is not finished by this time I will submit what I have that way there is time for reworking it.

Here is the synopsis:

Daniel has been in love with his boss Conny Hutchison for nine long years. Back then he was little more then a boy but even as a man grown Daniel hasn't been able to move on.

Conny's wife Marissa is a cheating harridan who trapped her husband with claims of a false pregnancy. Conny has always been a pushover until proof hits him square in the face. He finds Marissa in his bed with another man and finally gives her the boot.

No man should be alone for the Holidays and Daniels spent to many seasons pining for a love that can never be. Resolved to love his boss from afar he is elated when Conny announces his divorce from no good Marissa.

Finally he sees his chance to go after the love of his life. Now all he has to do is to convince Conny that loving him is anything but wrong.

The story is due out for release around Christmas time. If you are interested in being part of my group please notify me at nudjinneration@hotmail.com or sagewhistler@gmail.com. If you feel comfortable enough to put it here you can add your interest in the comments section.

Thanks,

~Sage~

Progress?

Yes. Torn is finished, and though I am fending off anxiety attacks about how it will be recieved I have confidence that my editor will direct me " quite nicely" to correct any large mistakes.

Currently, I am working on a short story for "Ho Ho Ho and Mistletoe" which will be part of the Holiday series.

After that its back to pounding out The G-Stain which is giving me fits with the execution.

I've been asked if I wanted to Publish 'Pet' but I've put a hold on that story so I can work out the kinks. I can't forsee an immediate solution to the problems I am having.

Other then that my old laptop crashed so I bought a new one. I said goodbye to about fifty or so ideas which had exclusively been written on it. Yes, I could find a someone to download my information but I simply do not have the time or money, nor the patience with all the computer problems I have had in the past few months. This new laptop is a blessing and I've got my fingers crossed that it will last for years and years.

I am working on several things besides stories. 1. Promoting myself as a new author 2. College is now back in full swing 3. setting up a website 4. getting my myspace page the way I want it

Health Scare.....

So here is the scoop. For the past four days I have been experiencing lightheadness and tingling in my left hand. Soooooo, I have been taking a break from the PC, trying to give my hand a rest because I thought that was what it was. Yet the tingling persists so I am going to go in and get it checked out. Actually I'm lightheaded as I write this now. *jeez* There could be several factors.
#1 I just lost my glasses and I might be lightheaded because I'm not used to being without the medicine in them for so long, while trying to focus on a screen (namely this one)
#2 while one doesn't explain the tingling and numbness in my left hand overdoing the typing thing might.
#3 I checked out the symptoms I have on the PC and they've named everything from carpal tunnel to diabetes (I'm not laying a claim to either one!)
So, I'm getting checked out and will have a definite opinion. I spoke to my mom about it and she says this happened to me when I was younger. The problem is that I needed to keep a snack with me to get my sugar up, hmmm sounds like diabetes yeah, but testing said I didn't have it then *shrug* Anyway it doesn't run in my family so that is a plus. My grandmother has the same problem but was not diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure yes *yikes* but no diabetes, but she still has to eat frequently or she gets dizzy.
Well I'm done pouring out my problems. I'm going to go take a break.

The Fate of Julian and Caleb:Ideas

Thanks for everyone who participated in my Poll. I was surprised at how many responses I got. lol. Anywhoo, I've made my decision about where Caleb and Julian are going to go from here. As for the scenarios that aren't going to make it into the story, I've been thinking about writing a PWP short erotica story with the characters for the readers who really wanted to see their pairing. Course I've got to get this next chapter out before any of that can start.

Bumblebee

I went and saw Transformers a few days ago. Not that big a hardship since I work at the theathre. I loved the movie and fell in love with Bumblebee. Spoiler AHEAD>>>> I was pissed off on his behalf when they captured him, and I nearly cried when his legs got blown off in the end and he was dragging himself across the ground. Aside from that and what happened to Jazz the movie was a spectacular display of CG merged with puppeteering. The Transformers were flawless and actually looked like they were alive, unlike Incredible Hulk who looked like he'd busted out of a video game. (sorry IH fans). The movie was fast paced and humorous even though in some parts they overdid it a little. There is alot of critism of this movie but I'm one of its millions of fans. If you haven't seen it I say... what are you waiting for?!

TORN AND G-STRAIN INFO

My contract with the publishing company is in its beginning stages, but since I have one foot through the door the terms do not allow for publishing more then the first three chapters of any of my stories contracted with them on other sites. So, with that said if you are looking here for the release date, you might not find it anytime soon. I've still got alot to do, but I want to make both stories good ones so that my readers are not disappointed. You guys are awesome, and thanks so much for your continued support.

The very day I get the release date for the book I'll post the link here. I promise. I will not only announce its release on my blog but on adultfanfiction.net with the sites permission of course.

Hit by a Bus

Thats what I feel like happened to my muse. He/she/It was hit by a bus. My thoughts are scrambled. I don't want to concentrate, I don't want to study for finals, ordo my take home test, and I can't focus on my stories enough to update. Yeah, I know I'm whining. Sometimes you need a good cry though. But for the love of God can I please get inspired before I implode?! That will be all.

Love has no place here, we Spartans are not weak. . .

So I went and saw the movie 300 a week ago, and two characters in particular caught my eye. Astinos who is the Captain's son and eldest in his line, he was one of the 300 hundred sent to fight Xerxes army. Sadly, ;__; he was killed by decapitation! AGH! Then there was his friend Stelios who was an exceptional warrior and oh, so cute!!He died at the side of King Leonidas by arrows! I was so pissed off about it even though I KNEW everyone was going to die *sigh*, but anyway the lighthearted banter between the two started the wheels in my head aturning. So i began thinking hey these two have the potential for a much deeper relationship. ALRIGHT! I can do that. Of course m/m relationships in Sparta were ill thought of one of the Spartans even say only the Athenians (their mortal enemies) loved boys. Now there is bound to be some boy action between the Spartans, at the age of seven they are put into military school where for the rest of their life or if they make it to 60 they live exclusively with other men in barracks. COME ON! They don't even raise their children or live with their wives. O_O I know something was going on. So Astinos and Stelios it is. I'm attempting to write their story in 1st POV, with each character taking a turn every chapter. Although this is like the bizillionth thing I'm attempting to do. Oh well, I guess I'll have to put in the extra work to catch up with my other stories as well.

Woot! My First FaNFIc

Lordy, I've been working on my first fanfic, it has Channing Tatum in it, and I know my readers of Pet, Torn, and Monster are gonna kill me but I just can't help myself. Thoughts pop into my head and I have to write them down. I'm attempting to progress with Ink. Its been like over a month since I added anything. I REALLY need to add something. *summoning my muse* "Hey is this thing broken." LOL--Any HOO my story with Tatum is going to be called #1 Fan. Isn't that original?>__<. Well I might change it but unless I think of something better it stays. Its M/M about Tatum getting stalked by an obsessive fan, and low and behold he thinks its sick b/c he's actually starting to get turned on by his admirer. O__o I think i have a keeper.

Read Em' and Weep

BOOKS. I love them, plan and simple. E-books have made it much simpler to purchase them in balk when I want them--which isn't such a good thing for my credit card.LOL. Anyway I think I am pretty good at judging excellent reading material, and if I'm not lets just let me bask in my own warped imaginings, but really if you haven't read J.L. Langley or Laura Baumbach all I can say is you're missing out. You can find these two authors on Loose ID which is one of the sites I have a link to on this page. Their stories are worth every cent, and I've read them quite liberally over and over again. My favorite story by Langley is the Tin Star, but Without Reservations is a close second. This story inspired my Texas twins in Torn. My favorite story for Baumbach is again tied with Out There in the Night and Details of the Hunt--I also loooovvvveee, the short novella from Changeling Press (another ebook website) called Entranced. Going for Gold, The Butcher and the Beast, The Velvet Glove series (bondage) are also excellent reads from Sean Micheals, you can visit his site seanmichealswrites.com. Mychael Black is also an excellent writer. Lorne Rodman is great as well--his book Bullriders will have you drooling all over yourself and 'Seeing a Man About a Horse' is sensual and spicy at the same time. Well thats all for now. I have like a hundred more titles in my head but I'll save those for later.

Flexible

I think I'm pretty flexible with my writing. I can't believe sometimes how diverse my genre's are. Currently I have 5 stories in rotation on AFF. I'm writing a story about a boy who runs into some paranormal trouble called Ink. Two cowboys brothers fall in love and are 'Torn' about what to do. A gang that calls themselves the Lost Boys consist of orphaned youths thrust into a lifestyle that no child should ever have to face. Pet, where a billionaire named Jon Torken buys rare creatures to entertain him and his guests. Then there is Monster where the King of Darkness has stolen a magnificent proud warrior with wings. Yes, I'd say I'm quite flexible to go from one topic to the next. I think it just depends on my moods. Sometimes I feel a little rock n' roll and sometims I feel a bit country, but I always try and deliver with spice.

Coming Soon

Rough Edges--Possibly the most powerful and irresistible creature on Earth is only fifteen years old. Its good to be King.

This is the two liner that came to me out of the blue today, and I've already written 2 chapters for it. I'm going to wait to post though, so that I can update most of my stories. I don't want readers to call for my head on a stick. LOL. Here's my new poster boy for the story. Yes, Channing Tatum--he is the face of my Morgan Lafayette who is half-bread daemon incubi.

Highway to Hell

Just got back no more than an hour ago from the longest, most confusing, most hilarious farce of a trip I ever took. Never.Ever. Take a trip without knowing the person in charge. Our Professor messed up on so many levels that I hard know where to begin. These are the facts.
1. We missed the bus that would bring us for FREE to the conference in Washington D.C.
2. We left late
3. The van we planned to rent was never picked up because the dealership closed at 6pm and we were LATE
4. Our Professor can NOT drive. How he got his license is beyond me, but he was swerving, making illegal turns, causing accidents almost to happen, switching lanes wihtout signals, breaking at inoppurtune times during heavy traffic, parking in a bus stop (illegal) to ask directions, making U-turns in a restricted areas, passing cars too closely, backing up at a red light, getting out of the car to speak with us at a stop sign. Shall I go on. I'm scratching my head in mystification that we were not pulled over by the police. We did however have plenty of car honking. We even got the finger.
5. In case you we wondering we were traveling in a Van behind his car, which we found even more dangerous then being in his vehicle. The van belonged to a student who allowed us to use his vehicle to get to D.C as long as our professor shelled out money for the gas.
6. We drove to D.C. and got lost for 2 hours (no exaggeration)
7. We could not find AU University
8.When we did find AU we had to wait an hour for info
9. We discovered that we were in the wrong city to go to the Hilton, we belonged in Alexandria--which we had already driven through and was 45 minutes of backtracking
10. We arrived at the Hilton at 1am only to experience confusion over rooms assignments
11. We didn't get to sleep until 3am
12. As a result we didn't have time to eat breakfast
13. We were late for the Cleo program
14. We were not able to sightsee
15. We got lost 3-4 times on the way back

So there is our horrible trip in a nutshell. Please be advised folks, buy a map and keep it close when traveling out of town.

Avalanche

Okay, so I sit down infront of the computer and try and type, and fifteen minutes later I'm browsing the website, checking my e-mail or eating a sandwhich. Forget writer's block. I've got an avalanche inside my head, blocking all my creative thoughts. The story I'm currently pounding out is called Pet. I started off writing the seventh chapter with a clear view of what I wanted to happen. Sometime during the story my brain switched gears and it ended up going totally left field. I couldn't bring myself to erase it because I think its pretty good, though my readers may be disappointed with the outcome. I initally started the story just trying to breathe life to characters who enjoyed good sex and had the occasional problem, but now its blown into a fast paced thriller if I do say so myself. Hmmm, I think I'll need a Beta to give me the green light before I move forward. Oh, and I just added the pic next to this cuz a nice hunky chest always makes me feel better. *grin*

Gum Drops

Growing up is hard. Everyone tells you that when you are a kid you better enjoy it, but you never pay any attention. It feels like you will be a kid forever. Then one day you wake up and your parents are saying now I legally don't have to take care of you *just kidding* Being a child was the best, you could run without getting a cramp in your side, and you always seemed to have an endless well of energy. You got to do silly things without getting in trouble for them. You got to eat loads of sweets without worrying about it going to your hips. Mud Pies, sunshine, running through the sprinklers, arm floats, and knee scrapes, training wheels, and hopscotch. Well, thats just behind us now. Now we have to be an adult, and you know I okay with that. It took some getting used to but I don't think I'm getting any younger.

Being a Straight Woman who writes about Gay Men

Society is seriously conflicted right now. Half of us are for gay rights, marriages, couples; whatever have you. The other half of us are homophobic. Its hard for me to explain my fascination with gay men, but I think all writers of manlove will say there is something sensual, that makes your heart throb when you think about a two hard bodied men going at it. Yaoi and Bishounen are on the rise. People just want to see to men go at it like bunnies and then turn around later and be tender. For me at least heterosexual relationships have become boring. The damsel in distress syndrome, or Mrs. Kick-your-ass is so cliche now a days. Manlove has found its niche and I think its here to stay.

The Pains of Writing

Stephen King says in one of his books, and I can't recall which one, if you want to write then write. So I write. It is far from easy, and I would challenge anyone who says it is to write a chapter or two. I've never been a planning type of person so I write off the top of my head, but frequently I get writers block. You're like ready to rip your hair out when you're typing along and your mind goes blank. Anyway, I've recently joined this site called adultfanfiction.net. The reader response is very welcome and I'm excited that people actually seem to like my work. It makes me write more, and well, I'm getting over my writers block alot faster these days.
